What’s a teacup puppy? And what are the differences between a teacup than a regular puppy? There’s no difference as far as the breed is concern. The only difference is the size.  A teacup puppy, a Yorkshire terrier, will weigh around 2 – 5 lbs. when full grown compare to a regular puppy which normally weighs around 8 – 9 lbs. The term 'Teacup' is not acknowledged or endorsed by any of the major Canine Associations. The term ‘Teacup’ came from the fact that when these tiny puppies are born, they can actually fit in a small tea cup. Most Teacup puppies are in reality, a premature puppy.

 

 

There can be some advantages of having a small dog. If you travel a lot and want to be able to take your dog anywhere with you, then a small dog can be of advantage. They don’t need big spaces for them to exercise or play around. There are so many different clothing and accessories for the little critters which make it so much fun to dress them up and spoil them with cool stuff.

 

But many are strongly disagreeing with teacup puppies. Teacup puppies are born premature, meaning their bones are very fragile can easily be broken, stepped on or worse. Health problems such as genetic and congenital problems may be encountered in these tiny puppies and the list is a long one.  Respiratory problems can remain or worsen all through their lives. These puppies often are so fragile that they do not live more than a few years.

 

Despite the advantages and disadvantages, teacup puppy and dog owners should still give proper care to their pets. Make sure you have a safe place for your teacup puppies to sleep. You don’t want it to get lost around your home or maybe even sat on. The significance of good quality, correctly-balanced puppy food cannot be stressed more and always feed them with water. Do not be tempted to feed him in excess.

 

Keep in mind that puppies require a great deal of attention.  Teacup puppies may end up with an array of health problems. You have to be ready and make sure that you’re willing to take responsibility for.

 

Since teacup puppies and dogs became so popular lately, many people try to take advantage of the trend and market their puppies to be Teacups in order to breed unhealthy dogs in order to produce small puppies or to charge more money.
